Zero Dark Thirty [2012]

A pretty cool documentary style movie following the events from 9.11 in 2001 and up until the American special forces put a bunch of well deserved bullets in Osama Bin Laden's body in 2011.

It is difficult to say how much of the movie is 100% authentic, but it is probably not too far from what actually happened. With a runtime of 2h37 it is obviously too long and it should have been shortened a bit. It is also somewhat confusing at times with a lot of Arabic names and locations being mentioned, so you gotta stay quite focused.

Jessica Chastain is excellent as the main character Maya, who is determined to solve the puzzle and dig out OBL from whatever hole he may be hiding in. She is a woman with a mission and she also suffers personal losses along the way. The rest of the cast also do very good jobs and the movie has some dark but witty dialogue along the way which makes you smile from time to time.

The last hour of the movie is the most exciting, especially the events in OBL's hideout where the military mission to kill him is documented in great detail. Watching it is almost like playing a first person shooter game and makes you dream of being a member of the special forces on a mission to take out the trash.

If the movie tells the truth and the use of torture was in fact what led to finding and killing OBL then it was truly worth it. The al-Qaeda scum didn't deserve any better and I don't feel sorry for any of them. War is never pretty, but The War On Terror is very necessary to protect our freedom from the likes of al-Qaeda. The assassination of OBL won't end this war, but he surely had to die for his actions and it was a glorious kill executed by the brave men of Navy S.E.A.L. Team 6.
