A woman takes a job as a housekeeper in a NYC building. Soon decapitated heads, and chopped off arms and legs start flying through the air. Just another day for the Satanic cult who happen to be living in this building. "They Will Kill You" is mostly a dark comedy with lots of action and blood. The horror elements are limited. The focus is on action and fun.
The movie has some great camera work and some interesting ideas and scenes. The second you take any of it seriously it will become a problem though. Enjoy it for the popcorn movie it is and don't try to think too much.
I couldn't stop wondering why the Devil is depicted as a pig though? Traditionally he is always a ram. Is the director or writers trying to communicate some bullshit here? Well, never mind. It's just another thing you shouldn't think too much about, I guess...
Zazie Beetz is great as the main character Asia Reaves. She is known for playing Domino in "Deadpool 2" [2018]. Her sister Maria Reaves is played by Myha'la. The rest of the cast are more or less meat for the sword or the axe or the shotgun or the Devil pig.
I doubt this movie will have much replay value. The plot is too thin, there is too little at stake, and some of the action scenes get somewhat repetitive. Zazie Beetz certainly kicks a lot of ass, but it's not really a movie I need in my blu-ray collection.
