This is a strong candidate for the worst new movie of year 2025. It is basically the same story as the 1987 movie with the same title and featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger as Ben Richards. Both movies are based on a Stephen King novel. I have been told that the new movie is closer to the novel than the old movie, but that doesn't help it. At least the Schwarzenegger version was shorter, had better pacing, it had humor, and it was a memorable 1980s style action movie. Surely, it wasn't a masterpiece, but it was an enjoyable watch.
This new 2025 movie featuring Glen Powell as Ben Richards is total crap. It is way too long. The pacing sucks. The humor is completely lame to the point where it is just embarrasing. The movie is trying to spell out its moral and to ram it down our throats repeatedly until you choke and vomit in your cinema seat. The dialogue is terrible. None of the actors do anything memorable, be it the good guys or the evil ones. Even the ending fucking sucks.
I have no good things to say about this disaster of a movie. It is a waste of your time and money to watch it. I sighed of relief when it finally got to the end credits. Just skip this one.
