The Last House On The Left (2009)

Pretty violent and somewhat sadistic movie that asks the interesting question in it's tagline "If bad people hurt someone you love, how far would you go to hurt them back?" After the bad people have killed a young girl and raped and shot the only daughter of the good people then the table turns and it's time for the parents to get some revenge.

The question is a pretty good one, but I had actually expected the movie to be a lot more explicit and violent. Most of the violence committed by the parents are more or less done in self defense with the exception of the microwave scene.

I wouldn't say I was disappointed as such, the movie is quite entertaining, the acting is quite good, the camerawork is good and there are some good scenes, if you like this type of movie. I guess many people would actually find it disturbing, but I'm way too far out for that.

I've never seen the original Wes Craven flick from 1972, so I had no idea what to expect from this Dennis Iliadis version and I cannot compare the two movies. But if it should have earned a top rating from me, it would have had to be even more explicit and violent. I'm not really satisfied with how the bad people were dealt with. They deserved to suffer more than they did.
