The Expendables

Sylvester Stallone has tried to create a remake of what made the eighties action movies so enjoyable for boys of all ages.

Sly and Jason Statham do some fine jobs as mercenaries and actually all the old action heroes do just fine in this movie and there's a hell of a lot of them: Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke and even Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis jump in for a bit of great piss taking on it all and themselves.

Giselle Itié as Sandra the general's daughter is yet another Latino "actress" that wouldn't know how to act even if she got bitten by an angry actor in the middle of the act.

This is an action movie and action is what you get: minimal story, lots of stupid morons (apart from the indestructable action heroes), one-liners galore, explosion after explosion, ultra violence (it's not a soft movie), tons of cool weapons (especially the auto shotgun) and did I mention you get quite a few explosions as well?

It's not big art, it's easily forgotten, but it is very enjoyable while you're in the middle of it. A bit like taking part in a porn flick with two Thai hookers and a horse I suppose.
