The Expendables 2 [2012]

I enjoyed the first Expendables movie - at least the first time I watched it. Something I can't say about the second. It has even more old action heroes with even more one-liners and even more explosions and close to no story at all. The problem with all this is that we already saw the same things in The Expendables 1. It already got boring near the end of that movie. You cannot build a movie based on explosions alone. Michael Bay have tried many times and he always failed.

Rammed in beside all the pointless violence and action and not so funny one-liners, it has some sentimental bullshit scenes that are extremely hard to swallow. In particular the scene where the team has to bury a dead team member and a few of the scenes with the local slave workers. You really don't know if you want to laugh or cry from the pain of watching it, but you definitely want to puke. It's certainly not the first time Stallone ends up constructing such bullshit scenes, but it's certainly a horror every time he does. Overdone, unbelievable, poor dialogue and worse acting.

Oh and Arnold Schwarzenegger is a horror too. He should so have avoided his return to the big screen, because he is a pure disaster in this movie. What should have been a self-parody ends up being totally embarrassing.

It's not all bad though. Chuck Norris has a few scenes where he wipes out some human trash and those scenes made the whole cinema laugh. Maybe Sly should have used him more.

Two movies with The Expendables was more than enough. There is no way I will even consider watching a third, should it ever happen.
