This is quite a show for the eyes. It is pretty much what it claims to be: a punk cabaret. Amanda(keyboard and voice) and Brian(drums and guitar) are joined by various performers of exotic art forms. This DVD has sharp clear images and okay sound. Compared to the 2005 release "Paradise" the new one is much better technically, mainly because this isn't a poor NTSC transfer but a true PAL video recording.
The song selection could have been better from my point of view. However the insane performance and musicianship of the 2 musicians in the hilarious "Coin-Operated Boy" always knocks me off my feet. Other highlights would be the fantastic "Mrs. O", "The Jeep Song" and "Sing". Several of the performed songs are either cover versions or songs I hadn't heard before, so it is never uninteresting.
The Dresden Dolls are once again proof that you really don't have to be able to sing beautifully (Amanda doesn't) to be a kick ass band and make excellent music and live performances. In fact it doesn't matter at all.
I will now sit back and wonder why I didn't try harder to get a ticket from some fucking scalper, since I actually happened to be in London that very weekend of the show(s). Well, I guess I'll never be able to fully explain that to myself...
