A new full-length album by Martin Degville aka Sigue Sigue Sputnik Electronic ? Hell yeah, that screams for a full investigation by detective KP!
Intro
Sets the mood and pace. Prepare to be judged, motherfuckers!
Electronic DNA
Awesome opener. Stun guitar, tons of echo. A great Sputnik tune that you gotta love or die while trying. The DNA of electronic rock N roll!!!
Neon Cruise
Sounds a bit like a Prophet track. Great fun and the party is in the house!
Tastes Like Chocolate
Really great ballad. Is this the Atari Baby of the album? More correctly it is probably a mix of the many Sputnik2 tracks up until now. Whatever it is, it is catchy and while the lyrics are a bit too simple and repetitive, it is still a very cool track. Most dudes and dudettes are sure to love this one.
Where Have All The Rockstars Gone
The hightlight for me. Nice guitars and a brilliant melody with matching lyrics. "If I had a crystal ball...I coulda had it all". Awesome song!
I Don't Wanna Live In Reality
I hear what you are all tryin' to do with the Jayne Mansfield stun guitar. But it kinda sucks. The song is an annoying loop and the lyrics totally suck. Sorry, but I really totally honestly hate this song. I shall pretend I never heard it, cuz I don't care.
Ain't Something Good Gonna Happen Tonite
Lovely guitar and another good ballad. I love this kinda shite.
1000 Tears
Very repetitive, yes I cried and I cried, but fuck that! Cuz it rocks and it rocks and it rocks and I rocked a 1000 times. Cool track with the Devil within. I love it. Love love love it.
Cyberbabe
Great electro track. Got that robotic feel. A bit too simple you might think to begin with, but then you realize you are caught in the web. It rules! And then she touched me and then she kissed me!!! She's a Cyberbabe.
Electric Umbrella
Simple song, but nice. Makes me want to meet some electronic shit in this electronic future. You're not alone.
Terror Bytes
Seriously awesome bad ass hardcore electronic track. This one is 86 billion terabyte of nasty Terror Bytes. You gotta love the beat, the guitars, the voice and me telling you how awesome it is. It rules. What a great closer!
It tastes like Sputnik:
Sir Lloyd Price has done a fabulous job here. We already knew he would - after his record of previous electronic Sputnik awesomeness, but this time he has made himself become a SSS legend. The sound is clear and flawless, it has been mastered perfectly and it is pleasing to my not-so-easily-satisfied ears. And most importantly, it fucking rocks! The programming is very Sputnik. As close as it gets without the two lost souls.
So monster cool to have the guitars back. The guitar sound has been dearly missed for too long. Santi Lluch has done an incredible job and Mark Standley filled in well on 1000 Tears. Now we only need a live guitarist. If you live in London, if you play stun guitar, get in touch with Degville. YOU are what Sputnik needs!
This is most likely the best album since the awfully produced but musically great Ultra Real. Even hardcore James and X campers may admit to like it, if they try just a tiny bit. The Prophet Of Freak was a mile-stone in Sputnik2 history, but this new album takes us further into the future. This album is why Sputnik is still alive. Major props to Martin and Lloyd for keeping the Sputnik flag high. We shall never surrender!!! Sputnik, we invented the future.
