Rocky Balboa (Rocky 6)

I had no idea what to expect from this one but actually it was surprisingly good. I have never been much of a Rocky fan I must admit and when it comes to Sylvester Stallone I much prefer "Judge Dredd", "Demolition Man" or "First Blood" over Rocky. When I think back at Rocky then especially Rocky IV (Ivan Drago) pops up in my head and it is not exactly memories of a great movie.

This Rocky movie is different however. It's not so much about boxing as it's about Rocky getting older and life in general. Sly actually does a good job and portrays Rocky as a warm and charming (if not too bright) human being.

Yeah yeah, we get the usual montage and the big fight where both fighters give and receive ridiculous amounts of punches that would knock down a rhino several times. But that aside it's pretty entertaining anyway. We even get a short glimpse of "Iron" Mike Tyson at ringside which is a cool little gimmick.

So all in all Rocky Balboa is much better than one would expect and if it's the last Rocky movie ever then it's a fine last chapter.
