Part two of Zack Snyder's wanna-be Star Wars movie. Part two begins with a short recap of part one, and then we are right back to continue the events from the first part.
The first hour is a bit too much, too long, too slow. It's basically wheat farming 1-2-3 in space. Luckily we do also get a few scenes mixed in with Atticus Noble [Ed Skrein] returning from the dead. The last hour of the movie is much better. Lots of action and laser/lava gun and "lightsaber" battles surrounded by massive explosions. A lot of it obviously presented in slow motion. If you liked part one and you can get through the first half with all the farming stuff, then there is a good chance you'll like part two as well. If you hated part one then you should skip part two, you won't like this one either.
The questions is, will Kora [Sofia Boutella] and the rest of the rebels manage to save the farmers from the evil Atticus Noble and the soldiers of the "Motherworld" Empire? Well, if you want to know, I guess you better watch part two and see for yourself. I think it is a bit of a problem that the movie has been cut for a PG-13 rating. It is very obvious, that we don't see everything in some of the scenes. We can only hope that the promised ultra-violent R-rated versions are getting a release later on.
I wouldn't mind if Zack Snyder manages to make more movies based in this universe. It may not be super-deep movies, but there are still a lot of events and stories that we have only seen hints of and I would like to see and learn more about it all. It may be wanna-be Star Wars, but I do find it entertaining and visually pleasing. I am ready for more.
