MPLSound is a pop album with lots of electro drums and voice processing (including Camille and Cher FX). It starts off very well with the catchy tune (There'll Never B) Another Like Me, a statement which sounds quite true, since it is Prince we are talking about.
Chocolate Box is a bit more repetitive, but I can't say that I don't like it. It is actually a pretty good pop song with rocket science lyrics like "U Know U Can't Make Chocolate Cake If Ain't Nobody Ever Showed U How".
Next song Dance 4 Me pretty much keeps the party pumpin' and songs like Here and Valentina are more average but still okay, while U're Gonna C Me and Better With Time are complete throw-away Prince fillers.
Ol' Skool Company is worth a listen and the title pretty much hints that a few things on this album sounds a tiny bit old. It's not quite as fresh as one could have hoped for. The closer No More Candy 4 U is plain stupid and I honestly think I hate it.
This is a lightweight pop album and it has everything from good catchy pop tunes to complete garbage fillers. All of it is wrapped in a sound that somehow feels a bit old to be honest. Certainly not the most important album release ever from Prince, LotusFlow3r is a lot better than this album.
