Nowhere near as good as the masterpieces from the eighties, but never-the-less well worth a spin. It's pretty consistent and I like it a lot better than the last album "Musicology".
It's got weird funky stuff like the title piece "3121", electro funk like "Black Sweat", a genuine Prince trademark tune like "Love" (probably the best track on the album), Santana rock in "Fury" (unfortunately this would have been way better if the keyboards had been replaced by heavy guitar), "The Word" is quite good too (perhaps except for the lyrics), and a couple of quite good ballads "Beautiful, Loved & Blessed" and "The Dance" (previously found on the internet-only album "The Chocolate Invasion" in an alternate version.)
It's got some pretty crappy tracks as well ("Get On The Boat" being the worst of them - a complete salsa hell) and some fillers. But let's just forget about them and enjoy the good ones.
All in all this is Prince's best release in several years.
