It may have a very tiny plot and not a lot of logic to it, if any at all. However you get plenty of silicone tits and playboy late nite style nudity, some stupidity so ridiculous that you'll laugh a lot while shaking your head in disbelief waiting for the next cliché and then of course, there's the gore.
It is insanely gory and bloody and I'm sure many people will think it is way too much. I however had a great time laughing in the cinema seat. This movie has some very extreme "slaughtered by fish" scenes in it, believe me!
The actors are nowhere near top class. A few of them are somewhat convincing, while most of them are pretty useless. Oh what the hell, most of them will end up as fish food anyway.
The piranhas look really awesome. The 3D effects are not bad, but again it is a bit of a scam. It is mostly a way of raising ticket prices more than anything else.
I can't really compare it to the original from 1978 because I simply can't remember any of it. Maybe I should see it again sometime...
