"Peacemaker (Season 2)", Streaming, [2025]

The movie "The Suicide Squad" [2021] and the first season of "Peacemaker" [2022] are superhero masterpieces. They are hilarious, witty, fast paced, funny, bloody, gory, sexy, well-written and fantastic. They are everything Marvel's superhero shit usually isn't. It's been a long 3 years wait since the first season of "Peacemaker", but hopefully good things come to those who wait.

A thing you will notice is when they do a recap in the beginning of S2E1. They have altered a scene from S1E8 . When Chris and Co. leave the battle with the Alien butterflies they are met by other superheroes who arrive too late. This group included Aquaman and involved a fish fuck joke. They have done some replacements here, adding The Justice Gang from the new "Superman" [2025] movie instead. I guess as an attempt to connect plots in the new DC universe. This also allows them to bring in Lex Luthor in the plot, if they [ahem] should need his expertise with dimensional rifts and alternate universes.

The super-short version of Season 2 is that Chris / Peacemaker [John Cena] is in love but is being rejected by Emilia Harcourt [Jennifer Holland]. This makes a drunken Chris do something he shouldn't have done. He uses his father's secret Quantum Unfolding Chamber (QUC) to enter an alternate universe.

In the alternate universe his father and brother are still alive and there is also an Emilia doppelgänger. It seems like the Best Dimension Ever. When Chris decides to leave our world behind and start a new life in the alternate world, The 11th Street Kids have no choice but to try and bring him back.

Rick Flag Sr. [Frank Grillo] wants revenge for his son that Chris killed in "The Suicide Squad" movie. Rick is now the head of A.R.G.U.S. and he is a very dangerous opponent. He will stop at absolutely nothing to get what he wants. Rest assured that all things that can - will go FUBAR. The 11th Street Kids will have to do their very best to make things right.

"When has anything we have ever done actually been for the good of the people?"

If you look at it, the "alternate universe" plot is lazy as fuck, but somehow they managed not to make it fucking lame. Of course it is a way to bring back Chris' father and brother from the dead, but it also allows for some very funny scenes like when Adrian / Vigilante [Freddie Stroma] meets his almost identical doppelgänger. A scene with Chris and his father and brother didn't make sense at first. They were talking about some Imps. But when you rewatch the show you will get it. Episode 8 explains it all, when they enter Candyland behind Door 22. Fucking hilarious.

Show creator James Gunn has tried very hard to ram a lot of Woke bullshit into the show, but he doesn't really succeed in what he wants. I think he wants to provoke people who hate everything Woke, but it just becomes another thing to laugh at. Yes, Woke people are retarded, so why not laugh at them?

No matter how many Bud Light beers you add to a show, it was still one of the worst advertisement campaigns made in history when Bud Light went woke. No matter how many bisexual, gay, lesbian references you add. No matter how many nude gang-bangs you add to a superhero show. It only reminds you that Woke sucks. Cultural appropriation? Yeah, very funny you should mention that too. It's Woke, it sucks.

They obviously had to play the good old Nazi-card too. I guess they didn't intend to make the alternate universe seem better than the normal universe, but it somehow does. Of course I could choose to be offended by all this Woke bullshit they have added, but I don't. I have decided to laugh at it. It only makes the show even funnier. I'm pretty sure that's not what they had in mind, but that's their problem, not mine.

The second season isn't quite as good and funny as the first one. It seems a bit more serious and more dramatic. We get to learn the characters better and their relationships. It is however still the best show out there and what you get in season 2 is highly enjoyable. It provides for several rewatches to laugh at all the details.

Harcourt is hot as hell when she unleashes her "toxic masculinity" in bar fights to allow herself to feel something. John Economos [Steve Agee] is fucking hilarious when he discusses with the other agents, particularly Agent Fleury [Tim Meadows].

"A fucking duck attacked me!"

Adrian is his usual fucked up self and a bit of a quiz master. Leota Adebayo [Danielle Brooks] is the one who holds the group together, and while Chris is a bit of a mess for most of this season, he still gets to kick some ass in a great scene where he takes out some terrorist scumbags.

"I am The Angel of Death..."

Speaking of kicking ass, Eagly [Dee Bradley Baker] is fucking legendary. He is a one-bird-army no matter if he is fighting against an evil Eagle hunter, agents with or without "bird-blindness", or any other threats. Eagly is King of the ducks [ahem] eagles.

Music of a questionable quality, still plays a big role on the show. We get a load of "New Sleaze Rock" to Chris' great satisfaction, but we also get some Ozzy and GNR. The new intro dance sequence is less fantastic than the one in Season 1. I actually skipped the new one several times, when I was rewatching the full season. I would never have done that with Season 1.

Will we get a Season 3? I sure hope so. The last episode ends with an annoying cliff-hanger. It would be criminal not to follow up on this. There is no way the story can end here. I really don't like when series end a season like this, but I guess this show is in no danger of being cancelled. Not that I trust HBO Max one bit after the fuckers cancelled the final season of my beloved "Westworld" [2016-2022] show. Let's hope nothing like that happens here. We can't leave Peacemaker this way. It just wouldn't be fair.
