I had feared that a runtime of 2 hours and 40 minutes would make it a very long and boring movie like Tarantino's previous output - the shitty western "The Hateful Eight" [2016]. Luckily this new movie isn't boring at all.
If you think it's gonna be all about Charles Manson you'll be disappointed. He only plays a small role in this movie. Sharon Tate [Margot Robbie] is there too, but it's not really about her either. This movie is mostly a Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt movie. The actor and his stunt side-kick. It's also about killing fucking stinking hippies. Nobody likes fucking hippies. Somebody should burn them all with a flamethrower.
"I am the devil, and I have come to do the devil's work"
The story is really simple and straight forward, but most of all the movie is entertaining, it is not bound by historic facts, and Hollywood back in 1969 has been recreated with perfection. The movie is not anywhere near as great as Quentin Tarantino's masterpiece "Pulp Fiction" [1994], but less will have to do. I'm not sure if I'll ever watch "Once Upon..." again, but it was a fun ride all the same.
