I have no idea why this movie is rated so high on IMDb and in various reviews. This is the second movie I've seen recently by a young director and maybe it's time to stop the fucking hype train. Especially when the movies are mostly crap. This one certainly is.
Boy likes girl. Boy doesn't know how to approach girl. Boy buys magical "One Wish Willow" that grants him one wish. Problem solved. Well, this is a horror movie, so of course it's not. Things go rather bad. Maybe you don't really want someone to love you madly.
The plot is simple. I could predict everything that happened from the beginning. The boy, Bear [Michael Johnston], is fucking annoying. The girl, Nikki [Inde Navarrette], is annoying too and overacts. She possibly overacts on purpose, but it's annoying never-the-less. Boy's friend, Ian [Cooper Tomlinson], is really annoying. The only main character that isn't annoying is Sarah [Megan Lawless]. You almost feel sorry for Sarah. How can she live with all these annoying freaks?
There is a bit of gore and violence and some bodily fluids along the way. It's a pretty mild R-rating in my book though. Is it at least funny then? Not much. There are some awkward scenes when Nikki freaks out in public, I guess that could be considered mildly funny. If you are easy to amuse.
I started looking at my watch after 20 minutes when I had realized that I probably had predicted everything already, and I had a really hard time watching so many annoying characters annoy each other and me in particular. I decided to stay in my cinema chair though. I had my Coke, my popcorn and most importantly the cinema had air-conditioning. I needed a few hours away from the nasty evil summer heat. If that meant I had to suffer watching this crap to the end, then so be it.
