We had a bit of a bad beginning to this gig since the band took us by surprise and started very early on. It kinda meant that we missed the first one and a half songs, but once we were in the crowd facing Mr. Lemmy all went well from there on.
Vega had obviously realized just how big bastards they were last year and they had cranked up the volume significantly compared to last year. Nowhere near as loud as in the good old days, but well loud enough to enjoy and feel it in your guts.
Lemmy, Phil and Mikkey were in great form and they played the dirty rock'n'roll shit like only they know how to. Mikkey did a fantastic drum solo in In The Name of Tragedy while Phil did a somewhat unsatisfying guitarsolo at some point. Apart from that Phil rocked like few before him and Lemmy is always a steam hammer.
The musical highlight for me was good old Bomber that is simply pure first class Motör-overdrive 5 miles off the ground. It wouldn't hurt if they would kick out parts of the setlist and replace it with some songs they haven't played in a long while. I for one would die to hear Orgasmatron again sometime soon.
But no matter how you look at it, this ultra power rock trio can't get less than 5 burning goat skulls. We love them and we'll be back for more. Just tell me where and when.
