Miley Cyrus - "Younger Now", Download, [2017] [Record Review]

Miley Cyrus : Younger Now

Miley won my heart with her outstanding "Dead Petz" pop-experiment. Her new album is a semi-grown up album. It feels like something to build a bridge between the "outrageous pop-phenomenon" towards her real self and strength - her country background. Sadly, this album won't offend anybody, but it should make it clear to a lot of people, if they're still in doubt, that Miley is serious now. Better music, same great voice, less chaos.

"Younger Now" and particularly "Malibu" are both kick-ass hits. I've been listening to 5 remixes of the latter and none of them failed. "Malibu" is a very strong song. "Rainbowland" is a demo-like song with Dolly Parton. Yes, it gets kinda annoying, but the intro can be removed in a wave-editor. I really like the song.

Nice songs, "Week without you", "She's not him". Easily forgettable perhaps, but they both feel great on this album. Feelings, those things you get when you murder death kill people you really hate: "Miss you so much", "I Would die for you". Ballads to die for.

"Week without you" is totally solid, but it surprisingly pales compared to "Love Someone". That one is badass cool. A true favorite next to "Malibu".

"I'm starting to think you have no heart
yeah, and you don't even have a soul"

This album has something weak as well:

- "Thinkin'", too repetitive and kinda boring, just didn't stay on my playlist for more than a few spins.

- "Inspired", it just gets too slimy or too much. Relax Miley, less is more.

Will Miley ever release the perfect album? Probably not, but who dares wins. This new one is very satisfying and a brilliant pop album.
