MeToo and Cancel Culture :
Marilyn Manson was being accused and sued by several women in a #MeToo attack. In "great" MeToo style this was based on incidents 20 years back in time, and was used to try to destroy a man's life and career. It was featured in the most one-sided, super-biased, manipulating, bull-shit programs I have ever watched on mainstream media in HBO/MAX’s "Phoenix Rising" presented as a two-part documentary.

The only things those documentaries did was to make me hate HBO for producing and hosting them, lose all respect I ever had for Evan Rachel Wood (whom I had adored in the excellent HBO "Westworld" TV-series), and finally it made sure that I was 100% on Marilyn Manson's side from there on.

Manson survived the Cancel Culture attacks and trials that followed and he is back stronger than ever as his brand new album is a testament to. Let's hope this also means that we can get those re-releases that were cancelled due to weak-ass record companies being scared of the Woke shadows threatening them.

The new album :
The new album from Marilyn Manson is rock-solid, consistent as hell and it uses all of the old tricks hidden up Manson's sleeves. It may take a few spins to fully open up, but when it does, it will bite you in the throat and it won't let go again.

I'm feeling sacrilegious"
There are no weak tracks and no fillers. The lyrics are biting and angry and it shows a man who is refusing to give up and has decided to fight back with full force.
"Look at yourself for someone to blame
You're the only one who should be ashamed
No no no. I won't repent"
The previous album "We Are Chaos" [2020] was a fine album, but the new album "One Assassination Under God (Chapter 1)" is simply excellent. I dare say, it is perhaps his best album since his masterpiece "Mechanical Animals" [1998].
The new album was written and produced by Manson and Tyler Bates. Bates also handles most of the instruments. I wonder if he will join Manson on the upcoming European tour in 2025? I hope so, he seems to be a man who knows what he is doing.
It makes no sense to try to highlight a few songs on the album. It all fits together so well that it should be played from beginning to end as a whole. From first song "One Assassination Under God" to the last song "Sacrifice Of The Mass" this is one hell of a ride. I can't wait for chapter 2. Bring it on!

Some technical stuff :
Nuclear Blast is a super shitty record label. Why is that? Because they release filthy records. Not filthy in a naughty good way but with lots of shit in the grooves. When you play a brand new record from Nuclear Blast then be prepared for tons of surface noise, static pops and cracks. If you don't have an Ultra-sonic cleaning machine then you are fucked.
The good news is that once cleaned with a machine then the record sounds great. It seems that they used a good master and that the pressing is fine once you get all the dirt cleaned off. Why the fuck is it like this today? Records from the 1970s and 1980s NEVER had these problems.
Live gigs? :
I hear that Manson is in excellent physical form these days. With a new album this great it bodes well for the upcoming European tour. Previously it seemed that Manson's live gigs got worse for every year making them a bit of a joke to witness. I really hope the downward spiral of his live gigs has finally ended and that we can expect great things here in Copenhagen in February 2025. Time will tell. Until then, let's listen to the new Manson album on repeat.
