"M3GAN", Cinema, [2023]

M3gan is a very entertaining murder-doll movie. Cady [Violet McGraw] is a girl who loses both her parents in a car crash. After the accident Cady comes to live with her aunt Gemma [Allison Williams]. Gemma is mostly interested in her work and not in kids (who can blame her?) and the 2 of them have a hard time bonding.

Luckily for the movie, Gemma works as a highly skilled toy designer. More specifically she is working on a very life like robot doll named M3gan (pronounced Megan) with artificial intelligence. Gemma decides to beta-test the doll on Cady. It is a great success and the 2 girls become very close. M3gan is quite creepy looking and it takes no doctor's degree in horror movies to figure out that creepy-friendly doll soon becomes murder-death-kill doll.

Chucky meets Terminator or something like that.

The movie is really well made. M3gan is a cool creepy thing and most of the actors do a fine job. The movie has a perfect length and a perfect pace. It could have been even better though. When you see that James Wan is involved you immediately think "Malignant" (2021) and hope for a massive bloodbath. Sadly we don't get anything like that. There is barely any blood and no gore.

The movie would really have benefited from going berserk in an ultra violent bloodbath instead of staying on the PG-13 path. While it's still a really good pop-corn movie it's just a shame that it could have been near-perfect instead.
