How you felt about Lily Allen's concert at Roskilde Festival 2026 probably had a lot to do with the expectations you came with. If you expected her to play any of her well-known pop-hits like "Smile", "Fear", "Air Balloon", "Hard out Here" then you didn't get any of that. If you had expected a traditional pop concert with a band then you didn't get that either.
Instead you got a very different experience. Lily Allen's show is more similar to a theatre play than it is to a traditional concert. All music and background vocals were pre-recorded. Lily Allen handled the lead vocals live on stage. Yes, there was some voice processing, but that is exactly how it sounds on the album, so that was how it should be. Lily acted out every song from her latest album "West End Girl" [2025] on stage as a one-woman-show. You could see that she has a lot of acting experience and she went through a lot of emotions throughout the show/play/concert.
The stage looked like a theatre play featuring pieces of furniture and a large refrigerator. At some point she was also raised in the air on top of a giant cake. It was a nice visual experience and a very different show. I thought it was a great way to present her brilliant concept album that handles events related to the divorce from her husband, American actor David Harbour.
It probably required that you knew the songs and lyrics rather well, and it was also an advantage to be in the front pit area to get the full close up view of the stage. Luckily I could check both those boxes. To judge from the reactions in the front pit area many in the crowd had a great time. It was nice to see that people could appreciate something completely different and unexpected.
I can fully understand that if you had expected a traditional pop concert tuned for a festival stage, then you didn't get any of that. If however you came with an open mind and was ready to be challenged with something completely different, then it was totally worth it and a really nice experience to witness.
