"Let Me In", Cinema, [2010] [Movie Review]

Let Me In

Well, in good American tradition any great movie made outside of The States has to be recreated in America to make sure it pleases the American market in the right way. This time the awesome Swedish vampire movie "Let The Right One In" [2008] has been given the American treatment in "Let Me In" [2010].

Actually I had decided to give a fuck about this remake until I found out that Hit-Girl Chloë Moretz was to play the vampire part, making me abandon that plan and buy a ticket anyway.

The movie is not bad at all and the two kids Chloë and Kodi Smit-McPhee play well enough (if a tiny bit theatrical at times.) The kids in the Swedish movie were however excellent and 100% believable.

The violence has been kicked up a notch or two compared to the Swedish version. That is not a bad thing in my book, but the Swedish movie didn't really need it, having so many other layers in it.

So to pick the winner between the two movies is quite easy, but that doesn't make the American version a bad movie. It just makes the Swedish version better.
