King Diamond - "Dreams of Horror", CD, [2014] [Record Review]

King Diamond - Dreams of Horror

Really nice 2 CD career-spanning compilation with 11 tracks from the Roadrunner albums and 12 tracks from the Metal Blade albums. There's a couple of songs from each of the albums from 1986's Fatal Portrait and up until 2007's Give Me Your Soul...Please.

I think they have done a great job selecting representative tracks from each album. Of course you could select almost every single song from Abigail [1987] or from my other favorite House of God [2000] but that is not the point with this collection. The songs flow nicely together even if the rather bad production and sound of Fatal Portrait makes it easily recognizable.

I guess this compilation is somewhat pointless if you already own all of the albums, but if you don't, here's a great entry point to the great world of one of Denmark's most well-known and influential musicians, even if a lot of people in his home country don't even know him or give him any credit. Well, that doesn't make King Diamond any less of a true heavy metal legend.

The booklet (yes! it comes with a booklet) contains liner notes for every song and all songs have been remastered.
