I have always loved Kim Wilde and her music. I've seen her many times in recent years and I know that her current live sound is really cool and massive. She has 2 live drummers and it totally kicks ass live. This album should be a reflection of that. Sadly, it isn't.
It sounds like it has been mixed for headphones, sort of, or like it has a fake surround effect trying to create an illusion of the listener being in the audience or whatever. It just doesn't work. At all.
It doesn't sound well on stereo speakers. It does however sound somewhat better on a pair of headphones, but it will never sound anywhere near perfect, or have any punch at all.
If it had been recorded straight from the mixing desk to a "mini-disc" - like they used to make great bootlegs - it would have had a much better chance of being brilliant. Many of those bootlegs are legendary and treasured live recordings today. This Kim Wilde album will never be anything like that.
I wish I could be more positive. The songs played are really great, but I just can't. Go see Kim Wilde and her band live instead. She rocks! This album doesn't.
