Immortal : "The Seventh Date Of Blashyrkh (Live at Wacken 2007)", CD+DVD, [2010] [Movie Review]

Immortal - The Seventh Date Of Blashyrkh (Live at Wacken 2007)

After having seen the mighty Immortal play an awesome gig at W:O:A 2010 it was a joy to receive this package in the mail just when I got back home from the Wacken festival.

It is a DVD + CD package and in the limited edition (mine is 0054/1000 copies) there is also a pretty cool high quality flag.

At the 2007 gig at Wacken the setlist spanned the entire career of Immortal. The band and especially singer Abbath were really playful and clearly in a great mood (for a Black Metal band.) Abbath stops several songs to have fun teasing the crowd and he also spits a lot of fire at one point. Also his singing is a bit less staccato compared to the gig in 2010.

The DVD has a real great video quality (probably taken more or less directly from the Wacken big screen production) and the sound is good although a bit on the metallic side, but not bad at all. The CD is almost identical to the DVD soundtrack only with a few shortened crowd bits. There is no extras at all, so the gig is all you get, but keeping in mind that this is the only official Immortal DVD so far, I think it is a great release and a must have for any fan. Immortal easily remains the best export ever to come out of Norway.
