Really great and unconventional mockumentary of the well known figure skating drama in 1994, involving Tonya Harding and Nancy Kerrigan. It is a far out story, and it is told here with lots of humor. The movie may not be 100% historically correct, but who cares, when it's this entertaining and funny, and all the actors are really great. Even the ice skating bits are really nicely done.
Margot Robbie may be a bit too pretty to be the perfect Tonya, but she is nevertheless excellent playing the role, and she manages to create lots of sympathy for an otherwise much hated person, who came from a tough white trash background. Her mother Lavona was a demon from Hell, brilliantly played by Allison Janney.
To make matters even worse, Tonya married a violent piece of shit named Jeff Gillooly [Sebastian Stan] who had a semi-retarded friend Shawn [Paul Walter Hauser], who had a lot to do with "the incident" that happened to Nancy Kerrigan [Caitlin Carver], and ultimately cost Tonya her skating carreer.
It was easy to see from the trailer that this movie would be great and I was glad that it didn't disappoint.
