"House of the Dragon (Season 2)", Streaming, [2024]

Season 1 wasn't perfect. Far from it in fact. It was however worth watching, and even if the pace was too slow at times, it mostly made up for it with some great scenes and some very fine acting. Sadly, Season 2 is best described as being boring as fuck. It drags its ass across the floor at a snail's pace. A lot of the time nothing happens at all only to be interrupted by endless talk while nothing continues to happen.

When Game of Thrones first aired on my cable-TV many White Walkers ago, I was up late at night to watch the new episodes as soon as they got released, due to the time difference between USA and Europe. I always watched every episode twice, and after the Season Finale, I would watch the entire Season again.

With Season 2 of House of the Dragon I have only watched every episode one time. Sometimes I even waited a day before I watched it. After the first 2 episodes my expectations were just too low to really care. I won't binge-watch the entire Season until whenever the blurays come out many Months from now. I'm a collector, so I got to have them, but I don't think they'll have any replay value at all.

Season 1 made us hate The Greens and it made us like The Blacks. Season 2 managed to make me hate them both.

The Greens are still evil cunts, and even if some of them experience doubts about their doings, they are still evil cunts or at least naive morons. The Blacks do nothing of any interest this season.

Daemon sits on his ass in Harrenhal and he is constantly tripping from some bad dope given to him by a witch named Alys. They even bring in Season 1 favorites Paddy Considine(Visereys) and Milly Alcock(young Rhaenyra) and that just feels like pointless fan-service. Nearly all of Daemon's scenes are a waste of time this season.

Rhaenyra is equally boring. She is a pacifist to the bone and so naive that only Alicent can top her. Fucking do something before I fall asleep! Oh wait, never mind. The season is already over.

There were a few highlights along the way, like some dragons fights, some dragons eating human flesh, and a fight between Ser Erryk vs. Ser Arryk. Those few fine moments were however far from enough to save the show. The expected highlight of Blood and Cheese fell completely flat. It was expected to be shocking and violent and bloody. It just didn't live up to any of the hype. It just felt meh.

Saved by the bell! The last episode fulfilled the Max quota of gender-confusion. Trans-Admiral Lohar looked like it was neither a he or a she. It just made no sense. There is no reason for this in Olympic Boxing and there is no reason for it in HOTD. Enough of this Woke bullshit.

If you combine Season 1 and 2 then you'd maybe have enough material for 10 good episodes. They have stretched this show far too much. Remember that the original material from GRRM is some rather crappy writing. It doesn't have anywhere near the quality of his never-to-be-finished "A Story of Ice and Fire" novels and the show writers have to make up way too much on their own, something they clearly are not qualified to do.

I think this Season was a new low point for the Game of Thrones universe. Season 3 will have to do much better than this snooze-fest. I guess we'll know in a couple of years or so.
