"Heretic", Cinema, [2024]

2 young Mormon girls pick the wrong house to sell their religious vomit. Mr. Reed [Hugh Grant] seems nice enough to begin with, but it soon becomes clear that he is playing a game of ummm Monopoly with the 2 young girls, Sister Barnes [Sophie Thatcher] and Sister Paxton [Chloe East].

Most of the movie takes place inside Mr. Reed's house and in the cellar below it. The actors do a great job, both Hugh Grant as the manipulating psychopath and the 2 girls who are trying to figure out what the hell the old man is up to. It probably isn't anything good.

The movie raises a lot of fine questions about Faith and explains why it is the duty of all human beings to think God out of existence and religion out of their lives. There is no one true religion. All religions are bullshit. It's as simple as that. The gore/blood level is low and the horror elements are very limited. It is mostly a thriller with a lot of talk and questions and answers.

The movie begins better than it ends. At some point you just have to abandon logic, and go with it for what it is. It is not a bad movie but it is not exactly great either. I wouldn't recommend going to the cinema to watch it. Wait for it to show up on streaming and then give it a go.
