Hellboy 2 is a pretty good follow up to the first Hellboy movie. The story is not bad at all, and it is almost a fairy tale with elves and trolls and robots and various impressive monsters.
The images are very cool and at some points you almost find yourself caught in between a Lord Of The Rings and a Star Wars universe. There is no doubt that director Guillermo del Toro is a bit of a special effects wizard.
Ron Perlman and Selma Blair are really great as Hellboy and Liz who are now a couple, and the Ape Sapien character is still pissing me off. Hellboy is a lovely creature with lots of humor and the interaction between Hellboy and Liz is very good.
The movie is a bit too long (it runs for 2 hours) and it is also a bit too slow at times, but generally it is quite entertaining and it is fine company for a big Coke and lots of popcorn.
I'm not really sure if I like it better than the first Hellboy though, although it is very clear that the effects are a lot better because of a much bigger budget.
