"Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire", Cinema, [2024]

I really liked the previous "Ghostbusters: Afterlife" [2021] movie. It was the best Ghostbusters movie since the original and it was fun and entertaining and had some good characters. It also has replay value, I've watched it several times already.

The new movie "Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire" fails in a lot of ways to live up to my expectations. The only character that is interesting is Phoebe, again brilliantly played by Mckenna Grace. The rest of the characters only have few interesting things to do. Several times the movie simply grinds to a halt. The story is weak, the dialogue is weak, the humor is weak, the direction is weak. The 2 hours runtime feels like a very long time and I can't really recommend spending 2 hours on this movie, and certainly not if you have to pay a cinema ticket to watch it.

The main ghost villain doesn't really do much until the last half hour of the movie and even the finale feels lame and weak. It felt great when the original Ghostbusters returned in "Afterlife", in this movie it just feels old. There is no point in making a new movie if you are haven't got an interesting story to tell.

If you want to watch a great Ghostbusters movie then watch the original and then watch "Afterlife". I think I'll just forget about the rest of them, including this new one.
