I am a big fan of the first 2 Deadpool movies, but I am certainly not a fan of superhero movies in general. I like a few of the normal superhero movies like: Iron Man 1+2, Ant-Man 1, Batman 1+2 (Burton). I like most of the crazier superhero movies like: Kick-Ass, Guardians of the Galaxy 1+2, Deadpool 1+2, The Suicide Squad (Gunn).
What kind of movie is Deadpool 3 then? I am sad to say, it belongs in the normal superhero category. Yes, it is semi-R-rated. Semi - because there is no cocaine and all the blood look super-fake. I don't know how much Disney is to blame, but rest assured I will find ways to blame them. A lot of the time the movie is actually crazy like you would expect of a Deadpool movie. It is however not really a classic Deadpool movie. Not if you compare it to the first 2 Deadpool movies.
You get to see almost all the beloved characters from the first 2 movies, but sadly only for a very limited time. This new movie is mostly about Deadpool [Ryan Reynolds] and Wolverine [Hugh Jackman] and the billions of cameos. It has so many cameos from the previous Fox movies that it becomes almost ridiculous. Much like the shitty Avengers movies that drowned in characters galore.
The huge number of superheroes is probably nostalgic for fans of the normal superhero movies, but for haters of normal superhero movies - like me - it gets really tiresome. The other 2 Deadpool movies never bored me. Not even the second one when it got all emotional. This new one made me check my watch several times.
The multiverse is of course a very convenient thing, if you want to bring back dead characters, but it always pisses me off. All these parallel universes is a gateway to shitty writing and lame movies. The plot in the new Deadpool movie is simply lame as fuck.
The humor is a mixed bag. Some of it is really funny and some of it just falls flat. The CGI is over-used and sometimes in a bad way. Some of the too many fight scenes just look too fake and goes on for too long.
Oh, in case you wonder, yes of course there is a Trans character. The dangerous trans-villain Cassandra Nova [Emma Corrin] is really unconvincing, but that Disney checkbox has been checked and the Woke culture can calm down.
I get why the movie makers thought Deadpool and Wolverine would be a great pair of near immortal freaks to add to the same movie, but it comes at a price. It makes this much more of a normal superhero movie than a fucked up crazy Deadpool movie.
Some people will love it, while I on the other hand do not. It is not a terrible movie and I don't regret watching it in the cinema, but if this is the new direction for Deadpool movies then I'm out. I have no plans of adding this movie to my bluray library, it will have no replay value for me.
