Datarock @ Vega, Copenhagen, 2006-11-25 [Concert Review]

Datarock - Lille Vega - Copenhagen - 2006-11-25 - Live

I had previously seen Norwegian Datarock at Roskilde Festival in 2005 so I had some idea of what to expect.

Lille Vega was fairly packed Saturday night and the danish act A Kid Hereafter had the often tough job of being support band. They did fairly well with their charismatic super-bearded frontman and they even had a chello player on stage. However, the sound was quite poor when they played so it never really succeeded as it maybe could have with better sound...

Datarock however sounded absolutely perfect and they really managed to rock the house with their electronic pop punk. The lineup featured both keyboard, drums, bass and guitar. As often is the case with electro bands it is not always easy to tell if everything you hear is live or if it is instruments played on top of pre-recorded tracks. However it sounded great, the show was entertaining and I somehow believe that most of it was live as well.

After having delivered a great show Datarock did a hilarious playback version of "I had the Time of my Life" and then the 4 bandmembers left the stage to great applause. Pretty good for a bunch of Norwegians in red jogging suits!
