D-A-D - Live Shots [Book Review]

D-A-D - Live Shots

The D-A-D "Live Shots" is a limited edition photobook with somewhere around 200 pages of photos shot by Henrik Damgaard during the band's 2012 tour. Henrik is a friend of the band and he had access to all areas, so this book contains photos from on stage, backstage, the tour bus etc.

It is a heavy quality book and it feels good to open it and surf thru the many great pictures. The band were even kind enough to sign my copy. I think I caught a D-A-D gig 4 times in 2012 which was a great year for the band celebrating the great success of their 2011 album "DIC.NII.LAN.DAFT.ERD.ARK".

The book also comes with 2 cds. The first one "The Campfire Favorites EP" is an acoustic selection of 5 tracks from their latest album. I've never been much of a sucker for acoustic versions of rock songs, and I don't find this cd particularly interesting.

The second cd "Home Alive" is a live recording from Falconersalen in Copenhagen. It contains 11 live tracks and is a selection of both new and older material. It is not the best D-A-D live cd to this date, although I can witness that the actual gigs (2 nights in a row) certainly kicked ass. I think I'm just a bit disappointed that it doesn't contain a full concert.

Actually I would prefer if it had been a live dvd concert movie. They filmed both nights with professional cameras so maybe the dvd will be released later. I sure hope it does.
