Crawl (2019)

Where do you not want to be when a hurricane hits you? Well, a flooded area in Florida surrounded by hungry alligators is one place.

Alexandre Aja directed brilliant movies like "The Hills Have Eyes" (2006) and "Piranha 3D" (2010), so he certainly knows how to create a nice horror/action movie. In "Crawl" the horror comes from a bunch of alligators.

"See you later, alligator
After awhile, crocodile"

The movie has a rather serious tone to it and there isn't much room for humor. It is however very intense, the actors are not bad and the gators look very convincing and deadly. There's a bit of a divorce drama along the way between father (Barry Pepper) and daughter (Kaya Scodelario), but it never gets too annoying.

The movie is probably not super realistic, but who really cares when it's entertaining and well paced. It has a perfect runtime for a movie of this type. No reason to drag things out when the story can easily be told in 1½ hours time.
