Not a bad album as such. Just not so entertaining and not with any real surprises. It is almost as quiet as the "Reprieve" album from 2006. I guess you could say that the album has a "friendly" mood musically. However Ani DiFranco's lyrics are not necessarily so friendly all the time.
The only song that really distances itself from the sparsely arranged and intimate universe of this album is the song "Emancipated Minor" which is a lot more upbeat. It wouldn't have been a bad idea if Ani had added just a few more faster songs on this album.
If you are in a mood for a slow and quiet album it is okay, but not much more than that.
