Alice In Wonderland (3D) [2010]

Of course you are allowed to have very high expectations when Tim Burton takes us down the rabbit hole and builds yet another one of his weird surreal universes. Unfortunately it doesn't quite equal a masterpiece this time around with Alice In Wonderland.

The universe is of course fantastic and from a technical point of view it all looks stunning and breathtaking. The actors are also great: Johnny Depp is obviously good as the Mad Hatter, Mia Wasikowska is fine as Alice and Helena Bonham Carter is excellent as the Red Queen "Off with their heads!"

The story is however very weak and is revealed very early in the movie and it holds no surprises and no suspense along the way. The grand finale with the dragon is not that fantastic either since the dragon looks pretty lame.

The 3D element is once again a bunch of hype and serves no purpose whatsoever except for increasing the ticket prices for the moviegoers. I'll prefer 2D from now on.

It is not a bad movie though and it is still a fine watch, especially because it is so visually great. Just don't expect that there will be much of a story, because there isn't.
