The new Alice Cooper album takes us back to the nightmares of the legendary Cooper album "Welcome to my Nightmare". The original musicians from back then even join in on several songs, and it has been produced by Bob Ezrin.
Musically the album is not as great as the old Nightmare album, but less will do. The sound and feel of several songs reminds me of "Dirty Diamonds" and that is very fine with me, but the real gems are the odd songs on the album like "Last Man On Earth" with a "musical" sound to it or the disco song "Disco Bloodbath Boogie Fever". The first single "I'll Bite Your Face Off" is an easy to like tribute to early Rolling Stones.
Rob Zombie provides backing vocals on "The Congregation" and I think Ke$ha does a fine job on the catchy "What Baby Wants". I can't really understand why some people seem to hate this song so much.
The exclusive limited edition is a must-have with all the extra stuff you get. The bonus track "Under The Bed" is a fine track, while yet another live version of "Poison" must be considered very unnecessary. Fucking iTunes has another bonus track "We Gotta Get Out of This Place" which is rather ordinary.
I think this is a fine Alice Cooper album, and the more I play it, the more I seem to like it. Good to hear that The Coop is back on track after the rather weak "Along Came a Spider".
