Alice Cooper : "Live at Montreux 2005", CD+DVD, [2006] [Movie Review]

Alice Cooper - Live at Montreux 2005

This is a pretty good DVD from the master himself: Mr. Coop and his band Ryan Roxie (guitar), Damon Johnson (guitar, keyboards), Chuck Garric (bass), Eric Singer (drums) sounds just as great as when I saw them in Ringsted in 2004.

The picture quality is very good and clear and the sound quality is almost as good. Only problem really is the audience. I guess it must be a swiss thing. Go to a concert and try to stay as quiet and uninterested as possible. Now, how stupid is that?

Cooper and his boys (and dancer Calico Cooper) however deliver the stuff with all the usual stage fun with the guillotine as the highlight. The setlist is very good with a mix of newer songs from the latest 2 albums and a nice selection of the older stuff. Only song I really miss is "Who do you think we are" which he played in Ringsted in 2004. But admitted, we do get a lot of other masterpieces instead.

If you are away from your DVD-player for a while there's even a CD in the box with most of the same songs on it. I haven't really gotten around to listening to it yet.

When I don't award this DVD with a top ranking it is because of the boring Swiss audience and the fact that at the gig I went to in 2004 we witnessed an even better performance by Alice and band. But that said, it is way great enough to buy and enjoy several times. Alice is still an absolute top performer!
