This is a prequel to the 2 "A Quiet Place" movies. It shows how the alien creatures arrive to Earth and begin killing anything that doesn't shut the fuck up and stays quiet. It follows a woman named Samira [Lupita Nyong'o] who is terminally ill with cancer. She has a cat with her and it is a very quiet cat. It never meows or make other sounds and it always comes back when it runs away.
After New York gets attacked, yes, it is always New York, we follow Samira as she tries to survive long enough to get to Harlem and find one last slice of pizza before she dies from either cancer or one of the creatures gets her first. Samira meets a panic-stricken Englishman named Eric [Joseph Quinn] who refuses to take off his tie even when the World is getting destroyed by alien creatures. They team up, so now there are 3 of them. Samira, Eric and her super quiet cat.
Will the trio survive long enough to get some pizza? Will they get killed by the creatures before or after? Doesn't old cold pizza taste like shit after many hours out of the oven? What do the creatures eat? See the movie to find out. Well, sort of. I'm still not really sure what the fuck the creatures were eating, but it kind of looked a bit like Alien xenomorph eggs. Maybe one day we'll find out in a A Quiet Place part 8...
The movie is PG-13, so we don't see much of the killings. In fact the CGI monsters move so fast that they are hard to see. Also it is often dark or raining or full of smoke or dust. I liked the special effects better in the 2 other movies. The sound effects are pretty good. Sometimes I had to stop eating my popcorn as not to make too much noise and attract the creatures to my seat.
The actors are good and both Lupita Nyong'o and Joseph Quinn do great jobs. The movie is not too long and it never gets too slow or boring. It is not as good as the other 2 movies but it is okay entertainment and it works okay as a prequel. Don't expect to learn too many new things about the creatures though. They are still pretty much a clouded mystery.
