"31", Bluray, [2016] [Movie Review]

"31" [2016]

At least partially funded by crowdfunding and aimed at pleasing horror-fans who treasure Rob Zombie's best movies "House of 1000 Corpses" [2003] and "Devil's Rejects" [2005], this sounded like a great movie project to support. After a very long wait, I finally received the signed blu-ray a few days ago. It turns out that it wasn't worth the wait and that it certainly isn't an interesting movie.

It's basically just a bunch of stupid people, who must try to survive for 12 hours while various killers are trying to kill them as part of some stupid betting game for rich people. Their game is called "31". That's all there is and it's all very predictable. You would have thought that Rob Zombie had bothered writing some kind of script and had at least some great idea for a movie, when he chose to start this project.

The dialogue is really lame, most of the movie settings look rather low budget and the actors overact a lot. You start getting bored really early on. Sheri Moon Zombie is her usual Baby-clone (she is getting too old for that) and the killers are not very interesting - not even Richard Brake's Doom-Head. The editing is ridiculously annoying and the ending is just plain stupid. Even the violence is weak and you barely see any gory details at all.

I can't say anything positive about this movie really, and I doubt I'll ever watch it again. A total disappointment.
