Miley Cyrus - "Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz", Download, [2015] [Record Review]

Miley Cyrus : Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz

I have never bought into the Miley Cyrus hate, that so many people seem to enjoy. She clearly doesn't give a fuck about what other people think, and she is able to provoke repeatedly. That is exactly what have turned me on to most of my favorite bands thru the years. Her country sessions easily convinced me that she is a damn fine singer, and in her own league when compared to the rest of the worthless pop-singers of today. Unfortunately she has so far wasted most of her talent on shitty pop-music that holds no value to other than very young people. Well, until now!

Finally I can proudly say, I'm a total fan of Miley. This is so far one of the best albums of 2015. I won't call it a pop-album, because it doesn't fit into that category. It is very different. It's a compilation of relatively quiet and dreamy, air-balloony, floating, cloud drifting, rather deep and emotional songs with lots and lots of variation. But not only that. It also has several up-beat, funky and even a spoken-word song. This album shows how versatile Miley is as a singer and artist, and a lot of credit also goes to The Flaming Lips, who has partnered up with Miley for this album.

The lyrics are about smoking pot, sex, dead pets and much more. There are no limits on this album. It goes on for more than 92 minutes and never does it get boring thru it's 23 songs. Surely, it takes several spins to fully open up. But if you give yourself the time to really listen to it while perhaps relaxing on your sofa or wherever, it will be worth it. It will grow and grow.

The album begins with "Dooo It!" that is rather upbeat and noisy, and is actually the only song, I don't really like. The real treasures are found in the more quiet songs like "Karen Don't Be Sad, The Floyd Song (Sunrise), Fweaky, Pablow the Blowfish, Twinkle Song." They are then brilliantly balanced out by up-tempo tunes like "Space Boots, BB Talk, Bang Me Box, Slab of Butter (Scorpion), 1 Sun."

So where do you buy it then? Well, you can't. Not now anyway. But you can listen to it streaming for free on Miley's website.
