This is a great little side project by Nick Cave (vocals, guitar, keys) and 3 of his Bad Seeds musketeers: Warren Ellis (violin and much much stranger instruments), Martyn Casey (bass) and Jim Sclavunos (drums).
In recent years Mr. Cave has often almost drowned his songs in endless words but this album has much more focus on the music be it blues, rock or punk or somewhere in between.
The production is raw and some of the songs almost sound like demos but it works great anyway. The result is refreshing and interesting. I am fairly sure that it will grow on you if the Grinderman CD gets stuck in your player for a while.
