This concert was announced a very long time ago. I couldn't make up my mind back then, and I didn't until the very last moment. Good for me. I got a front row (probably a formerly overpriced Platinum) seat for a great price. It turned out I should have made up my mind way earlier though, because value for money was outstanding.
The concert started with the sound of
sweet Queen Cersei
telling the filthy peasants to keep their mouths shut and stay the fook away from her after the show. Too many bloody peasants all over the Arena...
Ramin Djawadi
is quite the super-musician. Not only does he compose the music for MEGA shows like GOT and
Westworld
(played before and after the concert), he also conducts it and joins in on keyboard, guitar and whatever. He introduced Today's concert in Danish and his words were easily understandable and not just a few words. Impressive!
This GOT concert tour is amazing. It takes classical music to a different level and to another audience. I would normally be unable to stay focused or even care about a full Symphony Orchestra with a massive choir performing 2 acts for 2 hours.
Zzzzzzzzzzzzz
? But when it's presented like this with big video screens and tricks and effects, it is so much easier to love. It fucking rocked! I was blown away. The Arena was blown away.
We got several versions of "
The Rains of Castamere
". We got the saddest moment anywhere ever in anything when
Ygritte
died in
Jon
's arms. We got the Red Wedding, Cersei's revenge and a full version of "
Light of the Seven
". The "
title tune
" was played in 8+ variants at least. We even had some nice Stark shit too.
The videos had been slightly censored. No sex and no sadistic violence displayed, but it still explained the ride we've been through from S1 until now. The first 4 brilliant seasons and the last 3 seasons of mostly bullshit. The music quality has been constantly great though, throughout the seasons.
The acoustics in Royal Arena kinda suck and there were a few problems when the right sound channel fucked up from time to time. I can't really blame anybody though, you'll never experience anything like this show again, and the complexity of getting so many musicians to sound perfect at once, is breathtaking.
If you have a chance to catch this show elsewhere, and if you have any kind of love for
Game of Thrones
, please do it. You won't regret it. It is 100% value for money. AWESOMENESS.
Cersei approves.
MORE WINE!
