This is a collection of outtakes from the "Yes, Virginia..."(2006) sessions and also features newer songs. It doesn't really sound like a mix of outtakes though. After my first bunch of spins I think I happen to like it even better than the "Yes" cd which was a pretty good album in itself. So there is absolutely no reason to say "No" to this new one.

Amanda Palmer has known for a long time how to create great melodies as well as some hilarious lyrics, and drummer virtuoso Brian Viglione provides backing that is hard to imagine any better.

"No" has a very pleasant mix of slower emotional songs as well as faster ones with catchy melodies and Amanda in full-effect doing mad and crazy things behind her piano and microphone. The album starts off with a typical DD tune in Dear Jenny and then it goes on with the really catchy and great Night Reconnaissance. As a matter of fact the great tracks pretty much goes on for the rest of the album, but I also have to mention a live favourite that has been included with a great studio version of Lonesome Organist Rapes Page-Turner.

It is not unusual for a DD album to have one or two songs that has gone a bit too far over the top, but that doesn't really happen to be the case on the "No" album. The album sounds very consistent, and I think I'll enjoy playing it many times.

The only bad thing about this release is that there is no booklet and therefore no lyrics included. :-( The pre-order had the bonus of an extra card which has been signed by Amanda and Brian. :-)[2008, Roadrunner]
