This is one hell of a great Metal album. I had never heard a single tune by these motherfuckers until this years Roskilde Festival. It so happened that Machine Head was almost the only decent name on the festival line-up, so it was easy to decide to check them out. They played one hell of a live gig! Quite outstanding actually.
Their 2007 album "The Blackening" is really excellent stuff. It is aggressive and strangely beautiful at the same time. It contains killer tracks from the opener "Clenching the Fists of Dissent" over tracks like "Beautiful Mourning", "Aesthetics of Hate" and "Halo" and it goes on and on all the way through to the closer "A Farewell to Arms". This is probably the best Metal album of 2007. At least so far.
