I don't know what it is with Amanda Palmer these days, but she has been trying to bore me to death for a while now. It pretty much began after she had her baby, so that was probably a bad career move. Well, bad for me at least.

This new album is a collaboration with Edward Ka-Spel. I don't know if he is usually boring too, but on this album he surely is. It isn't quite as depressing as that awful David Bowie tribute "Strung Out In Heaven" [2016] she made last year, but it sure as hell ain't much fun either.

Amanda's music and lyrics used to be entertaining and funny and interesting. If there is any humor hidden somewhere on this new album, it is lost on me. If there are any great melodies hidden, they have escaped me completely.

Fine enough, if the 2 brilliant albums "Theatre Is Evil" [2012] and "Who Killed Amanda Palmer?" [2008] are going to be the highlights of her solo career, but this new album makes you long desperately for a new Dresden Dolls album, or just anything that kicks ass really.

It is not terrible to listen to the new album. It just feels terribly boring and makes you want to go to sleep. That is not exactly why I began listening to Amanda Palmer years ago. I kinda liked the first piano driven download single "Beyond The Beach", which is not totally unlike "Evelyn Evelyn" [2010], but unfortunately without any of the hilarious humor that album was so full of. This song turns out to be the best song on the new album. Most of the rest are just meh.
