Finally the new album "Anxiety" from New Zealand's pop princess Pip Brown - better known as Ladyhawke - has arrived. I loved her first self titled 2008 album to death. I first heard her hit-single "My Delirium" in the racing computer game "Dirt 2", and I ran and bought her album and all the cd singles. To my pleasure it was filled with catchy pop tunes including "Paris is Burning", "Dusk till Dawn" and many more. All songs having the same retro 80ties sound to them.
The new album doesn't have entirely the same quality to it, but it's not bad at all. The biggest change is that there is a lot more guitar now, but overall the sound is still quite similar to that on the first album with lots of retro synth on all songs.
The first singles "Black, White & Blue" and "Sunday Drive" are very representative for the rest of the album's songs and the strength of the album is that it is very homogenous. The weakness is the same, there are not many real surprises to be found.
If you loved the first album, I think you'll like the new one as well, just don't expect to find any big changes in the Ladyhawke universe.
