It's great to be back in zombieland again with Alice(Milla Jovovich). This time with new mutated zombies that look like the freaky vampires from Blade or zombies with a Predator's mouth.

If you haven't seen the other movies (especially part 3 "Extinction") I fear you may be a little lost here, cuz there is not a lot of backstory this time, which is very fine since those scenes is a waste of time anyway, if you've seen the other episodes. And let's face it: part 4 of a movie series is for fans only anyway. We get to meet Claire Redfield(Ali Larter) again. Claire's brother Chris(Wentworth Miller) shows up too as does K-Mart(Spencer Locke), so Alice is in good company.

That evil bastard Albert Wesker(Shawn Roberts) - top boss of the Umbrella Corporation - is a major player in this episode and he seems to be just as hard to kill as Alice herself. You can try of course, but they seem to pop up again right after.

Don't expect that you will get any more enlightened after this movie, in fact it leaves you with more questions than answers and more or less serves as a gateway to part 5, which is almost certain to happen, seeing how this episode ends with a major setup to a new episode.

As you can imagine this is not exactly satisfying, but on the other hand this movie has a great pace and some amazing 3D effects. Especially the axeman scene is really cool. This is the first time I've seen a movie where 3D is actually put to good use. On the other hand I'm afraid it will look a bit pale in 2D, since there's a lot of scenes specifically designed for 3D effects.

Some may find that the focus is on the 3D action scenes a lot more than on the story or other aspects of the movie. Some may even find that there is almost no story at all. I guess it all depends on whether you are a fan of the series or not.

Personally, I was feeling well entertained throughout the movie and I'm not disappointed at all. Only I am more than a little bit curious to see part 5 and I hope it won't take too long before it happens.

Running time: 1h37

Directed by: Paul W.S. Anderson
