The Reverend Horton Heat - Pumpehuset - Copenhagen - Live - 2010-03-29 (concert review)
I didn't know this band at all, but 2 friends of mine had given me a ticket as a birthday present, so I went to see the gig not knowing what to expect.

The support band Deadbolt was drop dead awful. The singer/guitarist couldn't sing (he just kinda mumbled the words), the drummer was shite and the band had 2 bass players with only one of them being able to actually play. Combined it sounded like a big fat joke.

The main band of the evening was a different and much better story. Jim "Reverend Horton" Heath (vocal + guitar), Jimbo Wallace (bass) and Paul Simmons (drums) are a tight unit and they play a blend of catchy rockabilly/psychobilly/country/rock music. Most of the gig was really good, only a middle section of (probably newer) weaker songs slowed down the concert for a while. But when the band rocked best they certainly rocked the house and they knew quite a few entertaining tricks as well (check them out in my videos.)

The house was fairly crowded for a Monday night in Copenhagen so they must have quite a few followers in Denmark, even if I had never heard about them before. Anyway, I better pick up a few of their older records for my collection.Below is a bunch of Zoom Q3 videos I shot, enjoy the high quality sound.

Big Blue Car / Now, Right Now

Callin' In Twisted / Indigo Friends

Galaxy 500 / Bales of Cocaine

Ain't No Saguaro in Texas

Baddest Of The Bad

Five-O Ford / 400 Bucks

The Jimbo Song / The Devil's Chasing Me
Jimbo shakin' my hand at the very end (camera pans down)

Big Red Rocket Of Love (Part 1 of 2) + drum solo

Big Red Rocket Of Love (Part 2 of 2) + Folsom Prison Blues + Bass Solo + Guitar soli
