I've had this fucker for a while, but I'm not totally done getting to know it. It should be some kinda return to the sound of the ultimate Stooges record "Raw Power" [1973]. James Williamson is back and by definition it rocks again? Well, yeah, it sure does.
I was never really a true Iggy rocker. To be honest the two albums I liked best were "The Idiot" [1977] and especially "Blah Blah Blah" [1986]. Both of those albums were David Bowie fueled. But that aside, I've listened quite a lot to "Raw Power", because some of the bands I love, have named that record as being a lot of their inspiration.
This new Iggy + Stooges album is a nice album. The sound and production is much too perfect and polished to be real punk anymore. You can't however take away the groove, the rock'n'roll or the coolness. It is actually a very fine attempt of reaching out for the old masterpiece of their own. You'll get a stomping foot listening to this, and you will realise that punk ain't dead after all. Not dead at all. If you've ever loved anything remotely Iggy, Stooges or punk, I am quite certain this album is for you.
...and if I had a fuckin' gun, I could shoot at everyone...

Please don't forget Wendy James. The former Transvision Vamp is awesome these days, so check out her single with James Williamson [Stooges] and James Sclavunos [Bad Seeds]. Now that's what I call some fuckin' serious backin' power. Her new album should be out: whenever it is out. And if you listen to her latest "I Came Here To Blow Minds" [2010], I bet it will be the coolest album of this millenium. Dot.
